Cloud Leopard The Cloud Leopard is named after its cloud-like markings, black-edged ovals on gray or tawny pelts. It is a very elusive creature, preferring to stalk its prey during the night hours.
There are no statistics available for this secretive animal. Widespread destruction and fragmentation of habitat is major threat to clouded leopards, as is poaching for pelts and for use in traditional Asian medicines. They live mainly in the lowlands of Southeast Asia, near China's Yangtze River, and west to the Himalayan foothills.
