Expressive Arts is an invaluable tool in encouraging creativity, personal development and
positive self- expression. Susan Ridley (Cavaciuti) is a Consultant in Creative Arts Therapy and
is dedicated to using the Higher Arts in empowering those with learning difficulties, physical
disabilities, visual and hearing impairments, dementia, mental health and substance abuse
problems. Programs are developed based on individual/group needs and interests, including:
Arts and Crafts; Working with a variety of media to encourage creativity. This includes working
with breathing and ease of movement, meditation, teaching practical techniques to improve the
quality of work, which will raise self- confidence, increase self-worth and aid the healing
process.
Creative Writing; Using poetry, prose, story telling, and journals express inner feelings and
emotions. The written word is a powerful tool from which we are able to articulate our life's
journey.
Photography; 'Living in the moment' photography helps develop artistic expression through
careful framing, captures our memories, helping us to appreciate every second of everyday,
because, who knows what tomorrow brings.
Music; 'Soothes the soul" using various modalities to over negativity and increase creativity
though singing, and percussion instruments.
Tai Chi, Yoga, Movement and Meditation; Creates harmony and through breathing exercises,
tuning into your body and environment, focusing energy, relaxing the body and calming the
mind.
Self Defense; Teaches awareness and sensitivity to your surroundings, how to read body
language and underlying emotions, the importance of listening to your intuition, building
self-confidence and inner strength, and only as a last resort to confrontation, simple, effective,
self-defense techniques.
